The Mission on DeckAs a Lifeguard at the Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA, you’re the calm, alert presence that keeps every splash session safe, welcoming, and high-energy. This role exists to protect members and guests while ensuring pool operations run smoothly.Key responsibilities include active water surveillance; being rescue-ready and responding to emergencies; enforcing pool rules consistently and respectfully; smooth shift transitions; maintaining a neat deck and organized equipment; communicating lap patterns and activity areas; completing opening/closing procedures; and performing pool chemical testing with accurate record-keeping.Required qualifications/skills:- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification; CPR/AED/First Aid- State police, child abuse, FBI fingerprint, and Mandated Reporter clearances- Strong rescue skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and clear communication- Calm, confident decision-making under pressurePay: $10–$12/hour | Part-time, flexible shifts (10–25 hrs/week).
